Preparing for launch

Online Tarot,
where the choice is yours

We're thoughtfully bringing the Tarot ritual online—with a quantum shuffle of the deck, face-down cards you choose yourself, and a clear interpretation of your reading.

A place where the cards hear your question.
No preparation needed. Wherever and whenever works for you.

Quantum shuffle

Nature's randomness. The mystery of your choice.

There's a moment in the Tarot ritual when you shuffle the deck, entrusting your question to chance and letting it determine the order of the cards. We want to preserve that connection in a digital ritual, too.

When you start the shuffle, Quantaro will contact a quantum source of randomness. Numbers obtained by measuring physical processes will determine the order of the cards in the deck. That way, a little of the physical world's unpredictability becomes part of your encounter with Tarot.

Then the choice is yours: you choose the cards yourself and shape your reading.

In one ritual, nature's randomness, the language of Tarot, and your intuition will come together.

What's quantum about it?

Quantum sources turn the results of physical measurements into random numbers. For example, the Australian National University's source uses quantum vacuum fluctuations: even what seems to be completely empty space becomes a source of true randomness.

Quantaro turns these numbers into the order of the cards and locks it in before you choose. Each face-down card already has a fixed identity: clicking and revealing it never assigns a different card.

Your confirmation triggers the request. Physics explains where the randomness comes from; the personal meaning of the reading emerges through Tarot symbols and how they're interpreted in the context of your question.

What we're preparing

Daily rituals

Start with one card

Card of the Day will offer a theme to set your mood in the morning and revisit in the evening. Ask a Card will help you look at what's on your mind right now. And for a quick question, there's Yes / No, with an explanation of the answer.

Relationships, work, choices

Find your spread

Choose a spread that fits your situation. Each position addresses a different part of your question, such as “What's holding me back” or “What I can draw on.” Together, the cards will help you look at the situation from different angles.

The Moon and the Major Arcana

Follow the rhythm of your practice

At the New Moon, dedicate a reading to your intention; at the Full Moon, focus on what has come to fruition. The Moon calendar will help you choose a practice, and the Major Arcana will help you explore themes in your life: the quiet of The Hermit, the choice of The Lovers, or the turning of the Wheel of Fortune.

Help with interpretation

From symbols to meaning

The Guide is an AI assistant that will help connect your chosen cards into one story. It will take their meanings, combinations, positions, and your question into account. You can then compare its interpretation with your own sense of the reading.

Library and learning

Learn the language of 78 cards

Explore Rider-Waite Tarot through the imagery, symbols, and meanings of each card. The explanations will help you find your way through your first reading and discover new details in familiar cards. No prior knowledge needed.

Personal history

Return to your readings

Your account keeps a history of your questions, chosen cards, and interpretations. Revisit your Card of the Day in the evening or return to a reading after some time. Notice which images resonated with your life and what you see differently now.

Key card meanings

Intention · Skill · Action

The gestures and objects on the card help reveal its core meanings.

One hand to the sky, the other to the earth. The gesture connects the spiritual and the earthly. In a reading, it's often understood as putting intention into action.

Four suits on the table. A wand, a cup, a sword, and a pentacle represent the four elements—the forces The Magician knows how to use.

The infinity sign. A symbol of eternity and spiritual power.

Common meanings of The Magician in modern Rider-Waite Tarot interpretation.

Upright

Willpower, mastery, focus, initiative. The Magician is usually associated with directing your efforts and using the resources available to bring an idea to life.

Reversed

Unused abilities, scattered focus, manipulation. These are common interpretations of The Magician reversed: power and skill go unused or are used to impress and influence. The appropriate meaning depends on the question and the card's position in the spread.

The Magician in different spread positions

A position is a place in the spread with its own question. For example, a three-card spread might ask: “What supports me?” “What's holding me back?” “What step should I take next?”

If The Magician appears in one of these positions, here's one way to read it:

  • What supports me? Your skills and resourcefulness.
  • What's holding me back? Spreading your efforts too thin or overestimating your abilities.
  • What step should I take next? Choose a goal and put the skills you already have to use.
Alongside other cards

Possible ways to read card pairs for a question about starting something new:

  • The Magician + The High Priestess: action and inner knowing—listen to yourself first, then act.
  • The Magician + Eight of Pentacles: mastery and hard work—develop your skill through practice.
  • The Magician + Seven of Cups: focus and many possibilities—choose where to direct your efforts.

These are examples of combining meanings. In a specific reading, the interpretation depends on the cards' positions and the question.

Examples of how The Magician's general meanings can apply to questions about different areas of life.

Love and relationships

Upright: show interest, start a conversation, or suggest doing something together. Attention and actions back up words.

Reversed: behind a good impression, there may be insecurity or different expectations. It can help to clarify intentions and agreements. The card does not establish what another person feels or is hiding.

Work and your own business

Upright: initiative and mastery can be read as advice to apply a skill, propose a solution, or take on a task.

Reversed: a reason to reflect on unused abilities or scattered efforts. What's keeping you from putting your experience to use?

Money and resources

Upright: recognize the skills and resources available to you and use them thoughtfully.

Reversed: examine unrealistic expectations, unclear offers, and the gap between what you want and what's possible. The Magician invites a closer look at the numbers and terms; the card does not promise income or assess the reliability of investments.

Personal growth and creativity

Upright: willpower and mastery can offer a theme for reflecting on independence and developing your abilities.

Reversed: unused potential is an invitation to ask yourself what's keeping you from trying or continuing to practice.

Symbolic correspondences for The Magician in modern Rider-Waite Tarot interpretation. The colors and details below refer to the classic card illustration.

Number · I

The number one represents beginnings and initiative. The Magician takes the first deliberate step: he has an idea and the tools to bring it to life.

Element · Air

The Magician is often associated with Air—thought, speech, and the exchange of ideas. All four elements are represented on the table: the wand is fire, the cup is water, the sword is air, and the pentacle is earth.

Planet · Mercury

In astrological correspondences, The Magician is associated with Mercury. This planet's themes of communication, learning, and resourcefulness echo The Magician's ability to put his skills to use.

What the colors mean

In the classic illustration of The Magician, the colors are often read as follows:

  • Red cloak—willpower and action.
  • White clothing—purity of intention.
  • Yellow background—clarity and light.
Flowers and illustration details

In the classic illustration, roses and lilies are associated with aspirations a person nurtures. The belt—a snake biting its own tail—is a symbol of eternity.

One way to read The Magician in the context of a question about starting something new.

What to draw on. The themes of willpower and mastery suggest reading The Magician as an invitation to draw on your skills and the tools available to you.

What to pay attention to. If you have lots of ideas, you can apply the theme of focus by choosing one task and directing your efforts toward it.

What to try. A draft, a conversation, or a prototype are possible ways to bring an idea to life. Choose what fits your situation.

In our example, The Magician is read as advice to draw on what you already know how to do. The question below helps you apply that advice to something new you want to start.

Sample reflection question

Which of my skills can I use to take the first step in this new endeavor?

For example, you want to start a blog and you're good at explaining complex things clearly. Your first step is to choose a familiar topic and draft a short post. That's one possible answer to the reflection question.

If the question could be answered with “yes” or “no,” The Magician could be read as “yes” in this example. For instance:

Should I take the first step toward something new?

This interpretation draws on initiative and mastery—The Magician's core meanings. In a question about taking the first step, they can suggest a reason to act.

The Guide offers extra help with interpreting your reading. Below is a prewritten example of what its response to a question about starting something new might look like.

The Guide's interpretation

Your question already carries an intention to begin. So in The Magician, I would first see the ability to give an idea form: choosing what to draw on and where to direct your efforts.

Your tools are already within reach

The symbols of the four suits lie in front of The Magician. For a question about starting something new, this image can be read as an invitation to look around: what do you know, what can you do, what do you have available, and who can you turn to? You don't need to have everything at once. What matters is noticing what you can realistically start with.

Let your idea meet reality

One of The Magician's hands is raised toward the sky; the other points to the earth. This gesture can suggest a connection between an idea and bringing it to life. Perhaps your idea now needs a first try: a sketch, a conversation with someone who might take part, or a small sample of your work. That step will give you both a result and a better sense of what needs refining.

Make a promise to yourself you can keep

The Magician's willpower invites you to think about where to direct your efforts. What one action are you ready to see through? Let it be small enough to carry out and meaningful enough to bring you closer to what you have in mind.

In the context of your question, The Magician can be read as this advice: start with what you already know how to do and find a concrete way to use it.

How to read a spread with several cards

  • Each position has its own question. In a three-card spread, for example, the first asks “What supports me?”, the second “What's holding me back?”, and the third “What step should I take next?” Each position helps you understand what the card speaks to: support, an obstacle, or a next step.
  • The library is the foundation for interpretation. It brings together card meanings by topic, both upright and reversed. They will help you interpret your reading yourself and see how the cards complement or contradict one another.
  • The Guide offers extra help. To explore your reading more deeply, you can turn to the Guide. It will bring the cards' meanings and positions together into a coherent interpretation tailored to your question.

Questions and answers

A ritual can hold mystery. But how Quantaro works should be clear. Here you'll find answers about the cards, the quantum shuffle, and what to expect from your first experience with the service.

Getting to know Quantaro

01What is Quantaro?

Quantaro is a digital space for personal Tarot readings. Here, you can focus on a question, start a quantum shuffle, choose your cards, and explore your reading. We're bringing the familiar ritual of working with a deck online, while leaving room for intuition and your own interpretation.

02Will I be able to use Quantaro for free?

Yes. We want to offer as many features as possible for free.

Features that involve extra costs, such as AI interpretations from the Guide, may become paid features. But we'll try to offer free uses or usage limits that reset for those features, too.

We're still working out our monetization model, and it may change over time. Our principle is simple: paid features should help sustain and develop the project, not limit the essentials. We're also planning special free features and higher usage limits for those who join through an invitation before launch.

03Is Quantaro suitable for beginners, and do I need to believe in Tarot?

Yes, it's suitable for beginners. You can start with Card of the Day or a simple question. You don't need to know the card meanings beforehand: the explanations, library, and Guide will help you make sense of your reading and get to know Tarot symbols at your own pace.

And you don't have to believe in Tarot. You might bring experience, a belief in signs, or simple curiosity. For some, it's a spiritual practice; for others, a way to explore symbols and see a question differently. There's room for everyone in Quantaro.

04How will Quantaro evolve?

We plan to add new spreads, lunar practices, Tarot learning resources, and a custom spread builder. Over time, we'd like to add other decks, traditions, and new ways to practice.

You'll be able to follow Quantaro's progress and hear about new features by email and on our social media channels.

Chance, intuition, and choice

05What does quantum shuffle mean?

Quantaro's randomness will be based on measurements of quantum processes. The resulting numbers will determine the order of the cards in the deck. For example, the Australian National University (ANU) generates random numbers by measuring quantum vacuum fluctuations. Once the shuffle is complete, the order is fixed, and the cards await your choice.

06Is the card assigned when I click? Can it change?

No. Before you choose, each face-down card already has a fixed identity. Clicking and revealing it doesn't assign a new card or change the order of the deck. You choose from cards that are already set, and the Guide receives the completed spread only to interpret it—it has no influence on your selection.

Understanding your reading and getting invited

07Who will interpret the cards, and can I read them myself?

Yes, you'll be able to interpret your reading yourself. For each card, Quantaro will show a basic meaning and a hint, while the library will let you explore the imagery, symbols, and meanings of all 78 cards in more detail.

If you find it difficult to connect the cards to your question, the Guide can help. This AI assistant brings together meanings, card combinations, and spread positions in a cohesive interpretation of your reading.

AI interpretations require extra resources, so access will be limited: we'll try to keep some options free and offer expanded access for a fee. We'll determine the exact terms closer to launch.

08How accurate will a reading be? Does a quantum source make it more powerful?

The quantum source is responsible only for true randomness during the shuffle. There is no basis for claiming that it makes a reading more accurate or gives the cards special power.

For you, a reading may be a sign, a spiritual experience, or a new way to look at your question. We leave room for that perspective, but we don't promise reliable knowledge of the future. The meaning you find in the cards—and the decisions you make—always remain yours.

09Can I save a reading, and what is the Moment Seal?

Yes. Every reading will be saved in your personal history along with your question, cards, and interpretation.

The Moment Seal is Quantaro's symbolic visual seal, created at the end of every reading. Its unique pattern is formed from the details of your ritual: the time, your question, the deck order, the source of randomness, the cards you chose, and their positions.

It's not a random image: data from the reading is combined into a cryptographic fingerprint that forms the basis of the pattern. This gives every reading its own Moment Seal.
